Solving OneStep Equations with Multiplication and Division
The following video will help you become more proficient when solving onestep equations with multiplication and division.
Vocabulary used in this lesson: Tips: When solving a onestep equation, we must isolate the variable on one side of the equation. Therefore, we have to perform the inverse of whatever operation is being done to the variable on both sides of the equation. Example 1: The variable in this equation is m. The operation is multiplication. The inverse operation is division. To isolate m on the left side of the equation, we have to divide both sides of the equation by 7. The solution is 8.
Example 2: The variable in this equation is y. The operation is division. The inverse operation is multiplication. To isolate y on the left side of the equation, we have to multiply both sides of the equation by 8. The solution is 24.
