Solving Inequalities

The steps for solving inequalities in one variable are explained in the following video. This clip will also teach you how to graph the solution on the number line.

Solving inequalities is very similar to solving equations, but you must remember a few important facts. First, when multiplying or dividing an inequality by a negative number, you must flip the inequality sign. Then, you should also keep in mind that an inequality has often an infinity of solutions; therefore it helps to graph them on the number line.
